Women are spending thousands of dollars each year trying to reverse the aging process with cosmetics and surgery.

But instead of injecting their foreheads and laughter lines with Botox, they’re using fillers for their necks, knees, elbows and even their hands.

Kristen, who has asked to remain anonymous, opted for $2,000 worth of hand filler to be injected after her wedding because she loathed the way her hands looked in the photos. She’s 28 years old.

‘I’ve always been very vascular but the close-ups of my hands in the wedding photos really showed how masculine it made my hands look,’ she told FEMAIL (before and after pictured)

‘I’ve always been very vascular but the close-ups of my hands in the wedding photos really showed how masculine it made my hands look,’ she told FEMAIL.

‘I’ve really started to notice signs of aging since the beginning of this year as I approach 30… on my hands and in other places.’

She has previously received a whole host of cosmetic procedures at Dr Naomi McCullum’s clinic The Manse in Sydney.

‘I religiously have a laser treatment done every month or so to maintain clear, glowing skin. It also prevents acne and tightens the pores.

‘You can immediately notice the difference and I’ve since shown many people who were blown away by the improvement,’ she said

What other procedures does The Manse Clinic perform?

  • Botulinum toxin for trapezius muscles to lengthen the appearance of the neck.
  • Botulinum toxin for calves to slim them.
  • Sculptra for cellulite and for butt augmentation.
  • PDO threads for thigh tightening.
  • Filler for neck wrinkles
  • Sculptra for abdominal skin tightening.
  • Skinbooster/fillers/PRP for knee wrinkles, elbow wrinkles and all body skin.
  • Décolletage treatments.
  • We also do the double chin dissolving.

‘I’ve also had calf slimming at the Manse which I love! My legs appear slimmer and more elongated.

‘They have reshaped my face with fillers, I’ve had anti wrinkle injections, brow lifts and I have also had a breast augmentation and rhinoplasty.

‘My favourite treatment at the Manse was the fat dissolving injection under my jaw, on my waist to create more cinching and my inner thighs. Life changing and no surgery needed.’

The hand filler procedure Kristen had takes approximately 30 minutes and the cost for 4mls is offered at a package at $2,000.

‘I’d say every 6-12 months a top up would be required. Numbing cream and local anaesthetic was used and it was relatively painless. There is minimal bruising and some swelling,’ she said.

‘I only wish I had this treatment before my wedding, unfortunately the only resemblance I had to Angelina Jolie was her hands.

‘You can immediately notice the difference and I’ve since shown many people who were blown away by the improvement. I felt like I was looking down at my hands from 10 years ago like “oh that’s what they used to look like, I remember now!”‘.

Dr Naomi told FEMAIL the age of clients opting for hand fillers varies.

‘Some people get very premature ageing of the hands so they can present for the treatment at a young age, like in their 20s, but typically late 30s and above need some revolumisation in the hands,’ she said.

The Manse Clinic also adds botulinum toxin to calves in order to slim them and sculptra for cellulite and butt augmentation

‘We often perform hand filler for the volume and use a laser to remove the brown spots which occur with sun damage and ageing.’

Plastic and cosmetic surgeon at Panthea, Dr. Ross Farhadieh, also based in Sydney, said this is part of a growing trend.

‘The general trend is moving away from invasive surgery towards minimally invasive techniques, including tissue fillers, botulinum toxins, micro needling and laser has become popular again,’ he said

‘Treating noses with fillers, which is not ideal in my opinion for a series of reasons not the least due to the risk of complications has gained popularity in recent times.

‘Botulinum toxin (Botox) in non traditional areas such as the upper lip to achieve a longer lip or a curled up appearance or to the arm pit to address embarrassing sweating problems have remained steady.’
