MUMMY MAKEOVER SYDNEY: LETS TALK MINI TUMMY TUCKS

The most obvious truth about pregnancy is the physiological resilience of your bodies. Over a nine month journey, a life that starts as what is called a morula, that is a clump of cells that have not even yet planted into the uterine wall or even divided into the three layer disc will go onto become another little person. Along the way, develop organs, grow and require life support. This life support is mum, in other words you. The uterus and supporting placenta are the primary site where this exchange takes place. As the embryo grows into a foetus and the body goes into extra drive, a significant number of changes occur physiologically including costs to your abdominal skin, subcutaneous fat and muscles stretching to accommodate new life. Once the baby has been born then its time for your body to regain its shape.

Costs of Mummy Body & Makeover Overview

The baby is a three dimensional being, and as such your skin, muscles and subcutaneous tissues are stretch in both the vertical and horizontal axes. Self evidently the terrain between the belly buttons and the mons stretches the most for this accommodation. So it’s natural this part of the body has ensured most of the costs and it has to undergo work to return to pre-pregnancy shape. We have discussed the origins of stretchmarks in a previous blog. Separation of the rectus muscles ( 6 pack ) from each other and skin stretch may not resolve post pregnancy and as we have previously discussed abdominoplasty surgery at our Sydney or Canberra clinics is a good method of addressing these changes and costs to your body as part of your mummy makeover.

Patient Suitability for Tummy Tucks in our Sydney Clinic

So what is a mini tummy tuck and when is it useful. Tummy tucks are a part of mummy makeovers in our Sydney and Canberra clinics. If main focus of the skin stretchmarks is in the lower segment, above the umbilicus the shape and tone is good AND there is adequate distance between the umbilicus and the top of the mons then a mini tummy tuck with or without a floating belly button can be considered.

Costs of a Full Tummy Tuck Recovery

I will explain. A mini tummy tuck has a smaller incision and generally a quicker recovery. The smaller incision seeks to remove the central skin excess in the lower abdominal wall, Where needed the skin may be undermined to the level of the umbilicus for better access to the rectus muscle edges and/or more skin excision. The belly button may be floated, that is cut off from the rectus muscle and replanted a little lower with removal of the excess skin. The incision is slightly longer than a standard C-section scar.
