Volume Replenishment Surgery in Sydney and Canberra
As we age, the subcutaneous fat compartments of the face become depleted and the skin sags, leading to a washed out and tired appearance in facial aesthetic subunits.
Volume replenishment addresses this through the injection of various fillers. One example of these fillers is hyaluronic acid, which is by far the most popular biodegradable filling agent. Hyaluronic acids do not produce allergic reactions and are an abundant structural component of the skin, being one of the chief components of the extracellular matrix.
The hyaluronic acid molecule is stabilized through cross-links, which prevent it from being digested by the body’s enzymes. Although a large number of hyaluronic acid fillers are available for soft tissue augmentation, they are all different in terms of concentration of hyaluronic acid, cross-linking, particle size and manufacturing process.
Once injected into the skin, hyaluronic acid products combine with the body’s own hyaluronic acid molecules and to water, increasing skin turgor, elasticity and volume for a period of between 4 and 12 months, depending on the product used. They can be used to deal with moderate to deep wrinkles around the nasolabial fold, lips and forehead, or to augment the lips. Although some people use them off-label to augment cheeks or inject them into the tear trough deformity of the lower eyelid, Dr Farhadieh would not recommend this.
We hold regular medispa clinics where anti-wrinkle and soft tissue injectables are offered, with two-week follow-up for any top-up needs. Prior to volume replenishment you will have a basic facial aesthetic assessment and, depending on your areas of concern, we will discuss your options.
Please contact our receptionist if you are interested in attending any of our medispa clinics and indicate your areas of concern.
